I joined the FASTBLADE team for a 6 month placement for my 4th year of the MEng Mechanical Engineering programme starting in Jan 2020. During my time with FASTBLADE I worked alongside engineers from Babcock to identify the optimal method of mounting the structure to the ground. This was done through the uses of static structural and modal analysis in ANSYS, an FEA software. Through the use of models that the team and I developed, Babcock were able to confidently decide on a mountain system that would not overload the system.

I am now carrying out my individual project with the FASTBLADE team. The project is an investigation of load introduction methods from hydraulic test actuators to composite test specimens in the FASTBLADE facility with the aim of producing working designs of the push saddles for use in FASTBLADE.
